Palenque, México

Welcome to the jungle! For the next 2 nights, we were to stay in the jungle. We stayed in hotel located in the rainforest called Hotel el Panchan – great experience which was more well received on the second night (it took some time to get used to the rough and ready and the bug, lots of bugs). Not only was it bug ridden, there were also monkeys, toads, snakes, green fire flies, and apparently jaguars. The monkeys themselves didn’t sound like regular monkeys like the “woo hahahaha”, it was more like a “woarrrrrrrrrrrr”, often misheard for a jaguar! :o) Before we reached Palenque we stopped at x2 waterfalls, Misol Ha and Agua AzulWaterfalls. Perfect hangover cure and the best way to break up the winding roads. Agua Azul Waterfalls was great to swim in, Misol Ha was fun as we got to walk behind the falling water – again both different and wonderful to view - both of which were absolutely stunning!!! High recommended...
Our second day in Palenque consisted of visiting the jungle’s Palenque ruins, all of which are tiny temples which have been found over the years in the local jungle, hiking and discovers, I felt like Indiana Jones!!! I truly believe that Palenque had the most wonderful ruins - these were my favourite.
